Hats, bandanas, belts, and boots — the complete outfits of Woodrow F. Call and Augustus “Gus” McCrae (played by Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall) are just a few of the many “making of” materials from the legendary Lonesome Dove miniseries on permanent display at The Wittliff.
This greatly expanded exhibition from The Wittliff’s major Lonesome Dove production archive takes visitors behind the scenes of the Emmy-winning miniseries, with a look at props and principal costumes, set designs, costume sketches and production notes, continuity Polaroids, Bill Wittliff's screenplay drafts, script pages, and his photographs. For the first time, we're able to bring much more of the archive into the gallery through five interactive touchscreens that show the full range of costume and set designs plus video from the Lonesome Dove Cast & Crew Reunion. As a special feature, each day we will be playing one episode from Lonesome Dove in our mini theater.
The new Lonesome Dove Permanent Exhibition is open for viewing during regular exhibition hours.
