The Wittliff Collections
Join us for a talk by Austin writer Sarah Bird who will speak about her award-winning photography book, Juneteenth Rodeo. Bird’s photographs offer a rare portrait of the jubilant, vibrant, vital, nearly hidden, and now all-but-vanished world of small-town Black rodeos in the late 1970s. The event will be followed by a book signing. Books will be for sale at the event.

This event is in support of our exhibition of Bird’s photographs, Soul Circuit: Juneteenth Rodeos in Texas, organized by Humanities Texas.
