SCOPE AND CONTENTS
This collection is comprised of drafts and proofs of essays by various authors focusing on novelist Cormac McCarthy. The essays were edited by Edwin “Chip” Arnold and Dianne Luce, and appeared in Perspectives on Cormac McCarthy, the book version of the Southern Quarterly, published by the University Press of Mississippi, September, 1993.

The collection has been arranged into the following series: 1. Drafts, 2. Proofs, and 3. Correspondence. Dates range from 1991 to 1993.

The Drafts Series includes photocopies of typewritten, hand annotated drafts, accompanied in many cases by brief correspondence regarding the status of the draft. Some folders include several drafts.  Proofs also include handwritten annotations and minimal correspondence. Both the drafts and the proofs have been arranged in alphabetical order by the last name of the author, followed by one set of proofs for the work as a whole.

The Correspondence Series contains several letters between the editors and the University Press of Mississippi, regarding the status of the work in its entirety. This material is arranged in chronological order.
