The Wittliff Collection celebrates the publication of “Outlaw Country Reporter: Misfits, Madams and Hangin’ with Willie,” a memoir by legendary newspaperman and gonzo outlaw journalist Sam Kindrick who chronicled the birth of outlaw country music and Americana and befriended some of the region’s most outlandish and offbeat characters. Kindrick’s massive Action Magazine archive is among the digitization successes at The Wittliff and a much-utilized resource with more than 4,000 historic photographs. The Sunday afternoon event and book signing begins with a reception and includes a conversation with Sam Kindrick and music legend Augie Meyers of the Texas Tornados, plus music performances by cherished singer-songwriters Sylvia Kirk and Claude Morgan.
